GRATITUDE FOR STRENGTH AND PEACE FROM THE LORD
Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness.
. . The LORD gives His people strength; the LORD blesses His people with peaceH7965.
Psalm 29:2, 11
Psalm 29 describes the power, splendor, and glory of God and calls us to worship Him. However, the last verse of the Psalm reminds us that God strengthens us, His children, and surrounds us with His peace. J. Vernon McGee brings this out in his Thru the Bible series:
In every storm of life He is in control, and He will bless His people with peace.
J. Vernon McGee
The Hebrew word for peace is shalom. Our word “peace” does not do justice to the complete idea of “shalom”. Shalom can be described as “nothing missing, nothing broken, to set at one again, to make whole.” It is incomprehensibly more than the absence of conflict, fear, or stress. It is wholeness in the sense of feeling calm and complete.
Have you felt the peace of God even during a time of fierce trial? We certainly have! When Susan made the courageous decision to have her legs amputated to save her life, we experienced the peace of God confirming that it was the best decision. When Susie had major spine surgery, we were at peace that God would provide; and of course, He did! Even in more common struggles like tight budgets, concerns for people we love, etc., God’s peace prevails when we entrust all our cares to Him:
1 Peter 5:7 (VOICE) Since God cares for you, let Him carry all your burdens and worries.
We need to express our gratitude for the privilege of our Father to child relationship made available to us through Jesus’s sacrifice as the final, perfect Lamb of God! We need to thank Him that the gem of His grace gives us confidence that our Father is in charge and gives us not only the strength to get through every challenge but the peace of resting in Him!
Father, thank You for providing strength for each day and the peace that we need to be overcomers in this world by Your grace!
